On March 16, 2015, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration presented the annual Public Service Awards which honor leader in law enforcement, the judiciary, and non-profit safety advocates.
One of the 12 winners was Robin Abel, a passionate secure your load advocate. She received the honor for her efforts in bringing awareness to unsecured loads and roadway debris risks to motor vehicles on a local, state and national level.
In 2004 Abel’s daughter was struck in the face with debris that fell off a vehicle with an unsecured load. Abel has written a book called “Out of Nowhere” which chronicles her determination to help her daughter rebuild her life and change legislation to prevent further tragedies.
